This position is open to anyone who meets the minimum and selective qualification* listed below. This is a position specific recruitment. The resulting list of eligible candidates will be used to fill this vacancy, and may be used to fill future vacancies in this classification in the Office of Traffic and Safety, Traffic Operations Division (Anne Arundel County).The primary responsibility for this position is to serve as the Assistant Division Chief (ADC) of the Office of Traffic and Safety Traffic Operations Division (OOTS-TOD) in the supervision, management, and administration of the Signal Operations Section and Traffic Control Device Inspection Section (TCDIS) in TOD. The Signal Operations Section consists of multiple teams of permanent and/or contractual Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) technicians and consultant utility locators. TCDIS consists of multiple teams comprised of construction engineers and construction inspectors, made up with a combination of permanent and consultant staff. The main focus of the position is to ensure the high quality of delivery efforts provided by the Signal Operations and TCDIS operating efficiently and effectively. As a technical leader, the ADC has the ability to recognize traffic control device inspection / engineering design errors or concerns and is expected to review all work conducted in the sections for technical quality. As a supervisor, the ADC is directly responsible for the technical and leadership development of the Section Chiefs and represents the State Highway Administration to internal and external customers regarding signal operations and traffic control device inspection matters. The position will assist the Division Chief to manage and track the project/assignment construction progress and cash flow to achieve the division's on-time and on-budget goal. QUALIFICATIONS:Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Experience: Six (6) years of experience in administrative or professional work. Two years of this experience must have involved one or more of the following: the supervision of other employees, overseeing and coordinating the general operations of a unit, applying rules and regulations, or exercising responsibility for the development of policies or procedures.Selective Qualification: Three (3) years of experience in transportation engineering construction, construction contract administration, or construction project management.
