Corporate and Foundation Partnerships Officer, works with the New Program Development Office together with technical and program staff to support expanded and more in-depth partnerships with corporate and foundation partners and donors in pursuit of Jhpiego’s mission. The Officer will support and/or lead response to identified proposal opportunities, support a team to be prepared for external facing activities in order to position Jhpiego for new partnerships, and contribute to stewardship efforts of existing Jhpiego partnerships. Knowledge management is a key function of the Officer role. The Officer will conduct research, perform information synthesis and document analysis, and track the status of results of on-going projects and monitor activities of competitors, partners and donors. The Officer will engage in regular communication with field staff, and program and technical leaders at Jhpiego worldwide. Jhpiego’s work focuses on a range of public health areas, including maternal and child health, family planning, reproductive health, HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment, malaria prevention and treatment and cervical cancer.
Specific duties & responsibilities:
Manage organizational response to straightforward corporate and foundation partnership and proposal opportunities (eg., those that have defined parameters).
Gather, synthesize and support analysis of information about donors, partners and competitors
Analyze and manage opportunity feedback from stakeholders
Compile and synthesize input to support bid and no-bid decisions
Develop proposal writing outlines (or slide deck flows), calendars and manage proposal teams to deliver on time results and responsiveness in line with identified submission requirements or strategy
Ensure non-technical proposal content complies with client needs
Manage production of proposal submissions, assuring on-time delivery of all documents
Support transition of awarded projects to implementation team
Provide regular reporting on proposal status and results
Draft and edit capacity statements, and frame organizational ideas for organizational positioning needs.
Contribute to developing a country office and technical area pipeline for corporate and foundation partnership pursuit, and support teams to be prepared for external facing activities. This could include, but is not limited to, research on individual prospective corporate and/or foundation partners, synthesizing info on market into a landscape analysis, organizing slide decks, drafting key messages, contributing to facilitation prep meetings, and other prep.
Serve as a technical liaison. Convey NPD process updates to technical counterpart, and serve as an entry point for technical counterpart in case he/she has questions or ideas to share for NPD consideration.
Support proposal managers and teams, including in scheduling and setting up phone calls and/or meetings as needed.
Nurture and maintain relationships with competitors, partners and donors, as appropriate
Maintain updated information on electronic libraries
Support development and implementation of office processes
Draft, route and track contractual documents
Coordinate, facilitate and document internal proposal debriefs
Capture proposal content, relevant donor feedback and program results to present in future proposals
Other duties as assigned
Minimum qualifications (mandatory):
3+ years of USG, foundation and/or corporate proposal development and/or project management experience
Working knowledge of international and US donor agencies
Ability to work in complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines, competing priorities and intense pressure to perform
Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills
Strong interpersonal and analytical skills
Aware of and sensitive to working in multiple socio-economic settings with multi-cultural groups in a developing country environment
Proficient in MS Office and online resources
Willingness to work overtime during proposal preparation and production
Ability to travel internationally to low resource settings
Working knowledge of private sector foundations
Fluency in a second language (French, Portuguese, or Spanish)

During the Influenza ("the flu") season, as a condition of employment, The Johns Hopkins Institutions require all employees who provide ongoing services to patients or work in patient care or clinical care areas to have an annual influenza vaccination or possess an approved medical or religious exception. The pre-employment physical for positions in clinical areas, laboratories, working with research subjects, or involving community contact requires documentation of immune status against Rubella (German measles), Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B and documentation of having received the Tdap (Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccination. This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
