General Maintenance Worker

Where: Baltimore, Maryland (USCG YARD, Curtis Bay)

Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Wage: $21.43 per hour

Work Schedule: Day Shift, Monday – Friday

Skookum is seeking an experience General Maintenance Worker who will perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

Typical duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assigns, coordinates and tracks employee work assignments as well as reviews work orders, monitors the safety and well-being of employees, and records work completed.

  • Responsible for a variety of tasks to include painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.

  • Communicates/interacts directly with the customer, informing them of unexpected/additional repairs and determining customer need.

  • Ensures completed work meets quality control standards and environmental protection requirements.

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Level certification preferred or equivalent combination of experience and/or licensing.

  • Ability to perform general maintenance tasks such as general carpentry, roofing, plumbing, masonry, painting and electrical work.

  • Ability to work in a variety of different environments, including inclement weather and high man lifts.

  • Ability to read and understand schematics and blueprints preferred.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Must be able to provide customer service in a professional and courteous manner

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 70 lbs.

  • Must have good manual dexterity, eye-hand coordination, physical fitness, and a good sense of balance.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain installation access and a Common Access Card (CAC).

  • Valid State Driver License required. Must be able to obtain and maintain coverage by Skookum’s insurance carrier.
