Position Summary

The Lead Materials Coordinator works under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Materials Manager. Assist in monitoring and maintaining department supplies and equipment at specified par levels. Functions as a resource person for department, supplies, equipment, and transport. Assists in scheduling and assigning work to ensure proper staffing and uninterrupted patient service. In coordination with the Nurse Manager, assists in supervising the work activities of staff engaged in supply management, meal delivery, and patient transportation. Provides support in training, evaluating, and counseling employees. Delivers quality customer service to all people requesting materials, supplies, and instruments.

Competencies

Education: High School Diploma required. Experience beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted for the required degree on a two (2) years of experience for one (1) year of experience. Associates Degree (AA) preferred.

Knowledge: Requires knowledge of department policies and procedures, work routines and familiarity with hospital equipment, supplies, and procedures.

Skills: Requires analytical ability to organize work, set priorities, perform duties simultaneously, and effectively function in stressful situations. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate/provide information to staff and management. Highly effective interpersonal skills necessary to interact with support staff, patients, visitors and other health care team members.

Required Licensure, Certification, etc.: None

Work Experience: Requires a minimum of five (5) years of experience in supply chain, materials, inventory, and/or related customer service. Two years in a demonstrated leadership role is preferred.

Machines, Tools, Equipment: General office and communication equipment, cleaning products & medical equipment.

Location: Johns Hopkins Hospital, East Baltimore, MD

Shift: 3pm to 11:30pm
