General summary/purpose:

Collaborate with investigators on research project on diagnostic and interventional cardiac MRI with primary responsibility for analysis and presentation of project data. Design, implement, and manage computerized systems for analysis of complex research project to prepare scientific presentations related to study results.

Responsibilities

  1. Optimize MRI Imaging and Tracking sequences for the cardiovascular (CV) system.

  2. Implement ECG-synchronized and respiratory-motion compensated sequences for high-resolution imaging of CV anatomy and physiology

  3. Develop imaging protocols for research and clinical large-animal and human studies

Focus is on optimizing, testing, and documenting MRI protocols on Siemens MRI scanners, in support of Johns Hopkins University investigators working on CV MRI. Some applications support the integration of research software and hardware onto MRI scanners. Instruction of other technologists on use of CV MRI protocols is required.

Background & Desired Qualifications:

  1. Degree in Radiological Technology

  2. MRI Technologist license in Maryland or equivalent

  3. Acquaintance with heart anatomy and physiology

  4. Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience with clinical cardiac imaging on Siemens MRI platforms at 1.5 and 3 T

  5. Commitment to clinical translation, including participation in large-animal & human imaging studies.

  6. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

  7. Desire to interact with researchers in prototyping and solidifying innovative imaging protocols

  8. Desire and ability to optimize individual MR images, including imaging parameters, ECG gating, respiratory gating, and patient interaction.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
