Job Duties: Under general supervision, performs a variety of clerical duties in the Operating Room. Receives and relays information pertinent to patient care, ensures cleanliness of O.R. desk and hallway area, completes OR posting form and communicates this information with appropriate personnel, and maintains par levels of clerical supplies.

Rotating weekends/holidays

Diploma/Certificate/GED required

  • Work requires knowledge of procedures and policies adhered to in the O.R., along with the ability to coordinate scheduling information of the O.R. as acquired during 1 3 months of related experience.

  • Knowledge of computer keyboard functions and demonstrated ability to utilize mainframe and PC programs.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Requires analytical ability necessary to handle routine, non-complex administrative details.

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously and to exchange and relay information with diverse group of internal and external calls and visitors.

  • Ability to perform as part of the team and to maintain individual accountability.

  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and demonstrate initiative.

  • Ability to utilize universal safety precautions.

  • Ability to demonstrate professional phone etiquette and the ability to document clearly and legibly.

  • Ability to identify an emergency situation and to follow established protocol in reporting the emergency.

Six months of experience in reception type activities is required.

Works in normal office environment where there is little discomfort to due to the extremes of heat, dust, noise, temperature and the like
