Job Summary : Provide technical support, assistance, and maintain hardware/software configuration for certified Mission Planning Environments at assigned sites. Under certain circumstances, deploy with assigned units during peacetime and during armed hostilities in theater operations outside of the United States.

Nature of Assignment: Knowledge, skills & abilities: Must obtain DoD 8570 Level 2 certification within 6 months of start Understanding of aviation mission planning concepts is desired Understanding of and ability to analyze/troubleshoot hardware, software, and Windows operating systems is desired Must be able to accomplish basic file download, manipulation, installation, and operation. Must have knowledge of networking hardware/software and communications over classified and unclassified government networks. Understanding of mission-planning systems functions and external interfaces, such as geospatial and intelligence data sources desired Must possess knowledge of computer security procedures. Must be capable of effective communication and presentation skills to deliver technical briefings and trainings. Understanding of mission planning system functions, data requirements and external interfaces is desired Understanding of software configuration management principles is desired

Training & Certifications: DoD 8570 IAT Level 2 certification (CompTIA Security+ or equivalent) required within 6 months of hire

Guidelines (level of supervision required to perform): Must be able to work independently but within the framework established by the supervisor and/or customer.

Complexity of tasks/responsibilities: Must be able to identify and analyze technical problems with mission planning systems and decide course of action to resolve problem Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision

Work Scope (Duties & Responsibilities): Support primary and secondary customers by performing updates, upgrades, maintenance, and disposition of mission planning hardware/software Analyze software, hardware, and system malfunctions, and implement corrective actions Deliver technical briefings for users of mission planning systems, software, and data (including classified and unclassified source data) as required Support unit needs during exercises, daily training, deployments, and real-world contingencies. Provide SSR support/expertise as requested by the Mission Planning Systems Support Facility

Essential Requirements: Must be able to secure and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. Must be able to read and write effectively in English. Must be able to work within the shift hours of 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Physical requirements – Must be medically and psychologically ft for deployment as defined in DoDI 3020.41, Enclosure 3. Travel requirements – May be required to travel locally on a regular basis. Must be willing to deploy under peacetime and armed hostility conditions to support assigned units in a theater of operations of the U.S. Armed Forces deployed outside of the United States.

Definition of Terms: Regular Full-Time: Regularly scheduled to work 40 hours per week. Flexible: Normally scheduled to work less than forty (40) hours per week, hired for short term assignments typically lasting three months or less, or hired on an on-call basis. Exempt: Salaried employees who are exempt from the requirements of overtime compensation, as defined in the Fair Labor Standards Act.
