Upper Chesapeake Medical Center Phlebotomist in Bel Air, Maryland

The phlebotomist technician performs venous blood collection with few uncollected specimens, unacceptable specimens or requests for assistance. This individual accurately processes specimens using computers and/or manual systems following established procedures, performs clerical and receptionist duties. This individual is responsible to note the Medical Necessity check from the Iatrics system. They must provide appropriate explanation to the Medicare patient in the event of Medical Necessity failure and supply an Advanced Beneficiary Notice with appropriate documentation. The phlebotomy technician interacts with patient populations from neonate to geriatric, with patients of all types of illnesses. Education & Training: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a structured phlebotomy course that included a minimum of 40 hours of didactic and 80 clinical hours in a laboratory/hospital setting. One year full time equivalent phlebotomy experience in a laboratory/hospital setting or a fast-paced, high-volume dedicated phlebotomy setting, preferred. Work Orientation & Experience: Experience may be required based upon education and training. The incumbent may require up to 6 weeks of full-time detailed job orientation and training to gain specific capabilities to perform essential job functions.
