Associate, Specialty Loan Operations, Bethesda, MD

Job Description

Capital One Commercial Operations is looking for candidates to support the growing healthcare and technology lines of business within commercial loans. The Specialty Operations Team supports day to day operations of loans pertaining to unique or niche industries that require special handling and industry knowledge. The primary function is performing ongoing servicing activities and managing client interactions throughout the life of the loan. The role includes wide arrays of analytical components (i.e. interpreting credit agreements) related to various loan/fee accruals, calculations as well as ongoing/ad-hoc reconciliation and remediation. Great communication skills, product knowledge, risk management is also critical to success, coupled with the ability to clearly convey complex concepts and issues in a concise way; as well work collaboratively among stakeholders to help facilitate ongoing change management.

Some of the primary functions of the role include:

  • Control and manage a portfolio of active credit facilities; following initial booking through time of loan payoff.

  • Process loan requests (pay downs, interest payments); interest and exchange rate fixing, manual interest and fee calculations, as well as, billing and liquidations.

  • Perform manual loan tracking enhancements, cash breaks analysis, and comprehensive testing of system enhancements.

  • Review and extraction from legal documents for compliance, interpretation, loan booking, and operational viability.

  • Develop, design, and follow inter-departmental controls and risk reducing processes.

  • Ability to work through complex transactions and requests with minimal guidance.

  • Serve as liaison for both borrowers and stakeholders by responding, resolving, and expediting inquiries, discrepancies, and special requests.

  • Prepare and submit periodic departmental, team, and metric reports

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or military experience

  • At least 1 year of experience with commercial loan operations

Preferred qualifications:

  • At least three years of commercial loan servicing experience.

  • At least one year of experience with ACBS.
