JOB SUMMARY

The Internal Audit function provides the Company with a systemic, disciplined approach to evaluating and improving the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance. Internal Audit ensures the company's network of controls, governance, and business and financial risk management processes, are adequate and effective using a risk-based audit strategy.

As a member of the Internal Audit function, the Manager, Business Support & Vendor Management will support the management and execution of financial management processes that contribute to the proactive monitoring of Internal Audit’s financial control environment with respect to the co-source operating model. This unique position will not only oversee the financial aspects of the terms of the agreements are met but also work with the governance team responsible for managing Internal Audit’s Co-Source service providers. He/she will be based at Headquarters to ensure timely responsiveness to considerations of financial changes as the Audit Committee and stakeholders make changes and/or or additional requests of Internal Audit.

The Manager, Business Support will also provide proactive support to ensure the financial management, reporting, and analysis needs related to Internal Audit’s vendors are met through effective partnerships with the vendors and various Global Finance groups. He/she will establish and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to help effectively address business issues, identify and implement appropriate solutions, influence business decisions, as appropriate, and improve overall business results.

EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS

Contribute to execution of activities designed to monitor and measure the financial performance of the third-party service providers and the applicable programs and services:

  • Contribute knowledge of co-source business environment and interpret data and reports in consultation with the Audit leadership team as appropriate, to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial information, explain trends and/or variations in results vs. expectations, and develop and implement actionable recommendations and responses to address identified business challenges and opportunities.

  • Monitor and analyze programs, services and initiatives costs to ensure compliance with funding and cost allocation methodologies, to determine over/under recovery positions. Perform funding and cost analyses to support business decision making and to respond to internal management and external party inquiries.

  • Support the completion of annual compliance processes/procedures (i.e. Prepared by Client work papers, Agreed upon Procedures,) for applicable programs and services. Respond to compliance, financial and internal control audit requests as required (e.g. agreed Upon Procedures, Sarbanes Oxley, etc.).

  • Use data and reports generated by the various Global Finance groups and own analyses of operating results, trends and variations in results vs. actuals to identify control issues and process improvement opportunities.

  • Prepare financial information packages for Chief Audit Executive, Audit Committee meetings and other stakeholders.

Manage and/or perform analyses related to the terms set forth in the Master Agreements with third party providers:

  • Assist in managing vendor’s relationships after contract execution, including monitoring adherence to service levels, issuing Vendors scorecards, and resolving disputes.

  • Partner with third party providers, as appropriate, to ensure service delivery metrics are met and operational challenges are resolved timely.

  • Compliance reporting – ensuring that deliverables and obligations on both sides are met, end of year review of all SLAs (e.g. cycle times, annual spend, deviations from Marriott contract terms, pricing, etc.).

  • Monitoring expiration of contracts to ensure renewal and/or termination notice occurs timely.

  • Serve as the point of contact or liaison between Marriott and Vendors on contractual questions.

  • Liase with Finance and other key stakeholders to ensure all necessary Marriott processes, controls, checks needed to execute a contract are fulfilled. Proactively communicate contract terms and procedures to stakeholders.

  • Interpret contract and perform business analysis of agreement, and coordinate with manager or legal regarding any legal concerns.

  • Research and support the RFI/RFP process to analyze the market and source the top tier outsource provider, as deemed necessary.

  • Review, edit and negotiate Change Orders and Amendments to Internal Audit co-source service agreements.

  • Inquire, learn and report on trends in the industry, best practices in Internal Audit procurement and negotiating strategies.

  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet department needs.

Support, develop, and disseminate IA specific communications:

  • Leverage best-in-practice communication channels and approach, both internally and externally, to increase associate awareness regarding business related needs, changes, priorities, and projects within Internal Audit. Distribute executive messages, prepare presentations and internal memos, organize Internal Audit related events, and conduct meetings to share information, as needed.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline required

  • Minimum five years relevant professional experience

  • History of consistently delivering business results

  • Experience in data analysis and financial modeling

  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices

  • Experience in interpreting contract provisions and evaluate risk associated with large professional services engagements

  • Experience with large-scale outsourcing arrangements

  • Excellent PC skills: advance knowledge of MS Excel and PowerPoint

  • Strong business and financial acumen

  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; able to take complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner

  • Effective problem-solving abilities; recognize and research problems and identify their underlying causes and recommend and implement solutions
