Job Duties and Requirements:

GEICO’s Controller’s department is seeking a bright, driven accountant who has passed at least two sections of the CPA exam. Through this position, you will apply GAAP and investment accounting concepts to ultimately report financial results to Berkshire Hathaway, our renowned parent company.

A typical day will include working with PeopleSoft financial systems, utilizing the general ledger, researching accounting pronouncements, reconciling accounts, assisting with the monthly close, and working with other associates and members of the management team.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 24 credit hours in accounting, including intermediate accounting

• CPA license or candidate that has passed at least two sections of the CPA exam

• At least one year of accounting experience preferred, especially preparing financial statements for a large corporation

• Public accounting, background in investment accounting, and experience researching accounting pronouncements are a plus

• Strong PC skills, primarily Microsoft Office Suite (vlookup, pivot table, VBA, queries)
