Position Summary/Purpose of Position

The Assistant Director, Human Resources will work closely with the Director of Administrative Services to oversee all departmental human resources, hiring, and employment related services for all faculty, staff, and students in the department. The position will also oversee the areas of purchasing and travel cards, and travel approvals and encumbrances. This position will also directly supervise 3-4 staff engaged in human resources services, IT services, and the webmaster / multimedia specialist.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Accounting, Finance, or related field.Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in human resources, personnel, or office management. Proven proficiency with standard office and business software applications. At least 2 years working for an academic institution. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently on assignments. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact. Proven supervisory capabilities of at least 2 years.

Preferences

Master’s degree in business administration, human resources, or related field. Five or more years of professional experience in an academic institution.
