Position Summary/Purpose of Position

This position performs a wide variety of administrative and program duties in support of the mission and goals of UMD’s Education Abroad office. The Program Management Specialist provides essential clerical and special project assistance to the Executive Director, as well as to other EA office units as needed. The incumbent develops an understanding of EA’s vision, mission and goals as well as the office’s functions and processes in order to complete ongoing tasks and projects successfully. This position interprets and accurately applies policies, regulations, and instructions related to organizational work, and maintains the confidentiality of protected or sensitive information. The Program Management Specialist uses advanced customer service and professional support skills, responds to general constituent inquiries, screens and directs calls and visitors accurately, and ensures that all queries are followed up in a timely manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree AND Two years experience in administrative staff work. Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
