The Sr. Activity Assistant provides leadership as role model for others by serving as an example of values, attitudes, and behaviors associated with distinguishing themselves in such a way that others admire and want to emulate them. This individual will facilitate working with groups of individuals as the instructor in programs or activities. This position comes under the direct supervision of the Recreation and Engagement Director. The Sr. Activity Assistant is responsible for following and implementing the daily expectations and polices set forth by Integrace and the Recreation and Engagement guidelines
Maintains program areas in an organized, clean manner after completion of program or activity
Must be physically able to assist Residents to and from recreation programs and outings.
Maintains effective rapport with each resident and their family members and/or responsible parties
Adhere to dietary guidelines during food service programs.
Supports Resident's individual needs and preferences, customary routines, concerns and choices.
Assists and works with individual volunteers and volunteer programs at the request of the Director of Recreation and Engagement.
Provides supportive guidance to recreation and engagement staff in absence of the Director, ensures that all planned programs occur, and assists with recreation and engagement staff annual evaluation.
Maintains and updates supplies needed in connection with the Director of Recreation and Engagement.
Collaborates and coordinates volunteer activities at the community.
Attends Care Plan meetings in Long Term Care or Service Plan meetings in Assisted Living.
Provide support to the Director of Recreation and Engagement regarding program enhancement or operations.
Responsible for documentation as directed
Utilizes the It's Never 2 Late computers in programing to enhance engagement.
Knowledgeable and able to update Touchtown digital signs as needed.
Assists the interdisciplinary team in the implementation of resident plan of care
Ability to work with confidential information as outlined in the privacy rules of HIPPA.
Adheres to general guidelines for professional conduct and behavior set forth by Integrace and the Director of Recreation and Engagement.
Assists Director of Recreation and Engagement with monthly in-service trainings.
Education: Formal Education
High School Graduate or Equivalent
Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
Must be able to obtain Activity Professional Certification within a year. Driver's license with acceptable driving record for transporting residents, as needed.
Experience: (Number of years of related work experience)
Two years' experience in social or recreational program, or experience working a licensed health care setting, preferred.
Knowledge: (Commonly known principles required for this field of work)
Recognized the importance of age appropriate, life fulling, and quality recreation programs.
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and use of the Internet.
Ability to lift 35 lbs. Knowledge and practice of the Safe Lifting Policy.
