Summary

The DoD CAF adjudicates, or evaluates, personnel security investigations. DoD CAF renders a determination of each individual's eligibility to occupy national security sensitive positions and/or to access classified information.

Responsibilities

As a PERSONNEL SECURITY SPECIALIST, GG-0080-12, your typical work assignments, in a developmental capacity, may include the following under supervision:

  • Perform in-depth analysis and evaluation of Personnel Security Investigation, security files and other information containing serious derogatory or extremely sensitive information impacting on initial or continuing clearance and access eligibility.
  • Evaluate and analyze all available information, determine its authenticity and pertinence.
  • Maintain a continuous liaison with counterparts, appropriate officials, and DoD offices to integrate DoD CAF actions.

Qualifications

You may qualify at the GG-12 level, if you fulfill one of the following qualification requirements listed below*:*

A.One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GG-11/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates possessing of an in-depth knowledge of a wide-range of security concepts, principles and practices in security administration to independently review, analyze, and resolve the most difficult, complex and controversial security issues; and skill in applying this knowledge to difficult and complex work assignments or a comprehensive, intensive, practical knowledge of adjudicating security clearances.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
