ATCC Manager, Facilities in Frederick, Maryland
Founded in 1925, ATCC is a non-profit organization with a mission to acquire, authenticate, preserve, develop, standardize, and distribute biological materials and information for the advancement and application of scientific knowledge.
Supervises, trains and provides direction to all the Facilities Department staff members and has primary responsibility for the operation and maintenance of the Frederick, MD facilities and utilities systems. Provides support for a large variety of facilities management systems. Perform as point of contact for day to day department situations and provides timely resolution to them. Complies with all ATCC policies and procedures.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Has authority either directly or through recommendations for employment decisions to include selection, training, goal setting, performance evaluations, counseling, promotions and terminations.
Assures all facilities and utilities systems are in optimum operational conditions at all times.
Ensures that all Facilities Department staff members are appropriately trained on their areas of responsibility and that have the necessary tools and equipment to perform their job efficiently and safely.
Coordinates work and monitors performance of any external contractor working on the premises as required.
Responsible for the execution of building management services, asset management, equipment management, service contract management, subcontractor performance monitoring, and maintenance cost control.
Supervises work assignments and ensures effective utilization of all resources.
Coordinates work assignments and work schedule. Oversees overtime, absenteeism, and all other activities related to performance of the staff.
Plans, schedules, manages, and executes facilities and maintenance projects as assigned.
Ensures that the facilities preventive program is being performed appropriately and according to schedule.
Provides management with reports, as requested.
Maintains department metrics as required.
Performs on-call duties, as needed.
Travels and works at all Frederick, MD locations, as required. Complies with the established safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
Assures company’s compliance with all environmental and safety regulations and standards.
Available to respond to emergency environmental and/or safety situations at all times.
Performs other duties as required.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Six (6) years minimum work experience in Facility Management, two (2) years minimum in supervisory/managerial position required. Technical education in engineering or Facility Maintenance preferred.
Experience in development and maintenance of departmental budget required.
Experience with biorepository operations and infrastructure to include mechanical freezers, walk-in freezers and refrigerators, cryogenic storage and supporting systems required.
Experience with the implementation and maintenance of Building Automation System(s) a plus.
Experience working with Kaye LabWatch and REES automated temperature monitoring systems is a plus.
Project Management background is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of complex equipment both mechanical and electrical in nature.
Ability to read, understand and interpret technical data from complex drawings and manuals. Excellent communication and people skills.
In depth knowledge in state and local building codes, electrical codes, mechanical standards, and safety regulations.
Knowledge of Facility Maintenance industry best practices and maintenance schedules of HVAC, alarm, emergency generator, electrical, and cryogenic systems.
Ability to work under pressure.
Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously.
Good computer skills.
Able to lift 50 lbs.
