The Business Support Office (BSO) Administration Manager leads a team of administrators to create and drive the delivery of a customer-focused, flexible, agile integrated administration support function for GMD. This is achieved through the hiring, induction, development, engagement and management of BSO team members.
Contributes actively to the development and implementation of the BSO vision, mission and strategy and departmental leadership and drives the development and improvement of global BSO processes to ensure delivery of measurably high quality services to GMD customers.
Takes part in business development activities for the GMD Business Support Office and conducts effective demand forecasting and planning activities to maximize the efficient utilization of BSO resources and ensure effective delivery to GMD customers.
Lead and manage skilled staff to ensure delivery of administrative activities/projects to time, budget and quality in accordance with GMD customer needs and GMD Operations’ performance targets.
Engage with and manage needs of senior stakeholders across the business and with Customers at all levels in the GMD Organisation.
Partner with GMD and AZ business leaders to build collaborative partnerships and ensure full understanding of business needs and priorities.
Provide expertise and direction to support direct and customer focussed matrix reports with proactive problem/risk identification, solution building and issues resolution to facilitate achievement of objectives on time and to appropriate quality.
Define and deliver and continuously improve key global service areas, setting the strategic direction to realise our ambition for the delivery of consistent and professional world-class global administration services.
Drive consistent implementation of globally-agreed GMD Operations/ Business Support Office strategies, process and tools.
Lead and support change by encouraging diversity of solutions that are underpinned by AZ Values.
Role model and embed a performance-driven culture
Work collaboratively with GMD colleagues globally to ensure delivery of key targets.
Accountable for individual and team performance management processes and skills development including Rewarding Performance, Individual and team development plans and career development.
Coach and provide feedback to BSO team members as required.
As member of GMD Ops ELT, shape, host or facilitate internal GMD Ops meetings and deliver communications from GMD/AZ and BSO to global team.
Promote and encourage innovation and creativity by bringing suggestions/good examples to BSO leadership team.
Lead and participate in GMD non-drug projects as required.
Demonstrate understanding of and compliance with AZ Global policies including SHE standards
Previous experience of leading and managing a team of experienced professional administrators.
Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives in a global and regional environment
Experience of implementing or managing change with a positive approach to the challenges of change for self, team and the business.
Experience of driving and leading more efficient and effective methods/processes of delivering administrative service.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proven negotiation and collaboration skills with key stakeholders and peers
Strong organisational and interpersonal skills
Good problem and conflict resolution skills
Demonstrates insight and understanding of administrative tools and processes and drives continuous improvement
Has previously operated in an administrator role

Awareness of clinical and pharmaceutical drug development process
Knowledge of AstraZeneca & Global Medicines Development policies, processes and procedures
An understanding of the therapeutic areas related to AstraZeneca’s products
Awareness of AstraZeneca Drug Project Operating Model
