As the Operations Manager you will:

  • Coordinate and oversee all sales, customer service and logistics operations at the branch for which he/she is responsible.

  • Meet or exceed key performance metrics established by the company, including safety metrics. Primary objectives will be to achieve sales customer service satisfaction, inventory accuracy, and delivery performance targets at the distribution center.

  • May analyze inventory levels and expenses.

  • Support an environment that promotes employee engagement and continuous improvement.

  • Assist with implementing or maintaining visual management tools, Lean Principles, 5S standards, etc.

  • Recommend improvement projects and changes to procedures for review and approval.

  • Establish positive relationships with key customers, N. Glantz sales personnel, and local vendor representatives to help create loyalty and to support sales in the local market.

  • Be required to either open and/or close the facility daily, typical hours are 7:30am — 4:30pm, subject to change based upon needs of the local market or regional branches. From time to time, may be required to fill in for employees in the office, warehouse, or delivery positions.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training the staff; coaching, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; executing plans and strategy changes required to achieve financial goals.

  • Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university is preferred but not required; a minimum of 5 years related management experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Operations management in a distribution center environment and/or wholesale distributor management experience is preferred. Training or certifications in Lean techniques and experience working with warehouse management systems is also a plus.

  • Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of warehouse management systems, transportation management systems, and have experience working with ERP systems. Ability to work with Microsoft Office products like Excel spreadsheets is essential, along with basic computer skills. Experience working with Trend/Infor Inventory Management software is a plus.

  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Current Valid State Driver’s license and an excellent driving record. Forklift certified.

The Operations Manager will be the senior person at the branch and has complete responsibility for day to day operations across the site.

  • The environment will likely be approximately 90 - 95% warehouse space with a small office/administrative area as well.

  • Infrequent domestic travel expected.
