Work with Telematics team to design and develop electrical and controls interface solutions to satisfy data collection and machine/device functional requirements. Engineer will work closely with cross-department JLG Telematics team to simultaneously satisfy engineering and commercial needs, while considering future Horizon strategies. This position requires strong technical and communication skills and is intended to be a non-supervisory, direct contributor role.


  1. Must be familiar with and capable of developing electrical wiring and connectorization strategies to devices and machine electrical systems

  2. Understanding of machine control systems sufficient to develop data collection interface strategies; includes understanding of functional operation and associated and interrelated signals.

  3. Willingness to learn machine system architectures and develop and test concepts of how telematics can best be interfaced

  4. Work closely with JLG and external software engineering teams to develop, implement, and test functional solutions

  5. Independently research new technology to be used in the development of product and feature enhancements

  6. Understanding and previous history of CAN Bus use is a requirement; familiarity with other communication protocols is a benefit

  7. Point of contact for all telematics-related electrical and physical layer needs

  8. Contribute to team with conceptualizations, development, test, and budgeting activities to support Telematics team goals

  9. Execute tasks in a synergistic manner with the other Telematics team members


 Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

 5-plus years related experience


 Experience with interfacing telematics devices with machine controls and electrical interconnections

 Working knowledge of CAN Bus and software interface tools

 Software coding, code review techniques, wireless communication, and mobile application development is not required, but some exposure is a benefit
