Job Description

The JMT Technology Group, a leading geospatial and information solutions service provider, is looking to add an experienced User Experience Designer to our team. Our team develops mobile, web and desktop applications, provides integration services, and implements commercial-off-the-shelf software solutions. We provide a variety of information technology and geospatial consulting services for state and local government, non-profit and commercial clients in the transportation, airport, water/wastewater, environment and natural resource, facility, and public safety markets.

Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Working with project managers, clients, business/systems analysts, and development teams to create intuitive application user experiences based on project requirements.

  • Create high-quality wireframes, prototypes and web deliverables, demonstrating your ability to preserve design aesthetics within technical platform capabilities and milestones.

  • Apply principles of responsive design to websites and applications to create designs that translate seamlessly across device platforms.

  • Create and maintain web site style guides and design patterns for use by development teams, ensuring quality and consistency in project user interfaces.

  • Create high quality information graphics and/or animations for projects or presentations.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of responsive design principles and approaches

  • Ability to work on multiple projects with minimal direction

  • Ability to visualize and organize complex business processes and abstract technical concepts into concrete user interfaces and graphic designs

  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, project managers and team members

  • Understanding of Web Standards, Web Accessibility

Preferred Skills

  • Working knowledge of application development in Agile development teams

  • 2+ years of experience writing HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript

  • SASS/SCSS and principles of object-oriented CSS development

  • Foundation, jQuery, Bootstrap, Angular.js, React.js or similar frameworks

Required Experience

  • 2+ years of experience designing interactive media

  • Undergraduate Degree in Interactive Design, Website development, or related discipline

  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with team members, customers and consulting partners from a broad spectrum of disciplines.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience developing GIS based web applications such as ESRI ArcGIS API, Leaflet, OpenLayers

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.

Must be able to travel to client sites as well as to other JMT office locations and domestic travel for projects as needed.
