This position is located in the Office of the Commissioner, Office of the Executive Secretariat, Division of Freedom of Information in Rockville, MD. You will serve as the Privacy Analyst, responsible for supporting the administration of the FDA Privacy program to ensure a privacy-respectful culture across the Agency and minimize the risk footprint in the privacy area.

- Execute and support privacy policies and procedures and identify compliance gaps and conflicts with HHS/FDA policies and other authorities. Identify novel issues stemming from new government policies and the use of new technologies.
- Support the preparation of internal privacy guidance and resources regarding policies, plans, procedures and operations. Process Privacy Act record requests including record reviews and search collaboration/coordination.
- Capture system- and enterprise-level privacy controls; assess and document the effectiveness of applied controls. Support preparation of ad hoc and regular reporting of FDA privacy activities, including agency-wide FISMA privacy program reporting.
- Receive and assess reports of privacy breaches; advise the Senior Official for Privacy; support, execute, coordinate/and track actions in response to privacy breaches.
- Maintain an accurate and up to date inventory of FDA?s Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), System Privacy Plans (SPPs) and other mandated compliance documentation.
- Conduct written analytical privacy and risk assessments regarding web-based and mobile technologies. Advise programs regarding privacy requirements and methods to incorporate privacy concerns into business processes.

The position of Government Information Specialist falls under the 0306 occupational series. To qualify for this position at grade GS-12/13, you must meet the following specialized experience (Your resume must clearly reflect experience related to the specialized experience as described below for each grade level):
FOR THE GS-12 LEVEL:
You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience for this position include: * Experience conducting privacy compliance activities (e.g., breach response, Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), System Privacy Plans (SPPs), training, Privacy Act requirements) including activities to ensure compliance with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) mandates, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance; AND * Experience drafting and editing written materials to ensure they are of quality suitable for both staff- and Executive-level audiences, and for public and internal visibility. FOR THE GS-13 LEVEL:
You must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience for this position include: * Experience advising government programs on privacy requirements and methods of compliance; AND * Experience conducting, with minimal supervisory oversight, the full spectrum of privacy compliance activities (e.g., breach response, Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs), System Privacy Plans (SPPs), training, Privacy Act requirements) including activities to ensure compliance with Office of Management and Budget (OMB) mandates, and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) guidance; AND * Experience drafting and editing written materials to ensure they are of quality suitable for both staff- and Executive-level audiences, and for public and internal visibility. NOTE: Qualifications are based on breadth/level of experience. In addition to describing duties performed, applicants must provide the exact dates of each period of employment (from MM/YY to MM/YY) and the number of hours worked per week if part time.
